Apples in the Catskills
This past weekend I ventured off to the Catskills of New York! I was there to photograph a beautiful fall wedding, and lucky that my [photographer] friend Alicia could hop the train up from the City to join me! We don’t get to see each other a lot, but when we do, it’s always some crazy location! (a wedding in South Africa, the vineyards of Sonoma, a major snowstorm in Vermont)
This time it was Tunis Lake, in the town of Andes, NY!
It was sooo nice for both of us to “escape” a bit, into one of the most perfect areas for the autumn season! This was my last big wedding of the year, and a great way to celebrate!
The wedding day poured rain, but ended in some gorgeous foliage photos with the happy couple. I got up at 7am the next morning to head out for a run! Frrrrreezing! Four miles of rolling – and not-so-rolling – hills, and my phone died in the first half mile because it was so cold! So I was kinda out there on my own without a map or a plan. But sometimes that’s the best!
We had an adorable breakfast that same morning, and drove back toward the town of Hudson and the train station. But FIRST, apple picking!!! I haven’t gone in a handful of years, and Alicia has never been (she’s actually from Sweden). Such a gorgeous day for it!
Nothing beats fall in New England (and, I suppose, just outside of New England where the Catskills and Hudson Valley are ;-))… the foliage, the apple and pumpkin-picking, the ciders and beers! I can’t wait to make an apple pie this weekend!!!
On the running and racing front, we’re off to the Shipyard Pumpkinhead 10k in Mashpee on Saturday! What’s your favorite fall race happening this month?
